2020 Grand Island Diocesan Council of Catholic Women (GIDCCW) Resolutions

Resolution #1

Walking with Moms in Need: A Year of Service

Purpose: To encourage, mentor and educate pregnant women and mothers of all ages.

Whereas, The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops are inviting parishes to join in a nationwide effort from March 25, 2020 to March 25, 2021, in implementing their program Walking with Moms in Need: a Year of Service (;

Whereas, Every human life is a gift from God;

Whereas, Abortion, abuse, neglect and divorce are a Nebraska and worldwide issue; and

Resolved, That members of GIDCCW provide educational material on healthy pregnancies and the hazards and scares of abortion and offer healing services for families in need due to divorce, abortion, illness, accident or suicide;

Resolved, That parish CCWs provide meals, babysitting or friendship for pregnant women and mothers struggling with physical or mental exhaustion;

Resolved, That parishes invite expectant parents to receive a special blessing from the Priest for their unborn child, and that parents bless their children by tracing the Sign of the Cross on their forehead and reciting, “I bless you, in the name of the Father, Son and Holy7 Spirit. Amen” and

Resolved, That the GIDCCW receive a yearly report on this program from the Spirituality Commission.

Resolution #2

Passing on Our Faith and Service to Others

Purpose: To renew and understand our Catholic beliefs and extend our service to others.

Whereas, Many faithful do not have a strong belief in the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist;

Whereas, Many faithful are complacent in the beliefs, traditions and doctrines of the Church; and

Whereas, The faithful are called to be of service to others;

Resolved, That members of GIDCCW promote the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist and educate the faithful about what Catholics believe and why;

Resolved, that Catholics renew the practice of the Works of Mercy; and

Resolved, That the GIDCCW receive a yearly report on these endeavors from the Service Commission.
